Vacation '08

We've been gone on vacation for the last 9 days! This blog may be over a few posts because we had SO many things going on and well 9 days is a long time LOL

We headed up to Oregon and Washington to see some new and old friends. The boys did great over the course of the trip! I'm so proud of them!

On day one we left Jason's work at 2:30ish and headed off. (Thanks Patty and Cassie for taking care of our zoo while we were gone!) First stop: Boise!

We arrived in Boise later than we planned but we did get to visit with my friends Sara and Shari and their little (who is not so little anymore!) girl Olivia. Thanks for letting us crash for a break! Your home was beautiful and the boys had a great time playing in the pink sand!

After we left Sara's house we took a 2 hr drive to Baker City, OR and stopped for gas and some sleep. The boys were out cold by then and we were both exhausted from driving all day. Jason also randomly remembered that somewhere close by was a restaurant that had a train that drove around the restaurant. Anyone that knows my boys knows they LOVE trains. We just happened to stop to get gas right in front of the place. So we knew to stay the night there.

Jason woke us up at the crack of dawn at 5:30am *gasp* and we went to eat breakfast (the kids barely ate) at Sumpter Junction.

After breakfast we headed out for the last leg of our journey to Salem, OR to stay with Brian and Marcie. Jason used to live with them when he lived in OR and Brian was his BFF. They hadn't seen each other in almost 7 yrs!

Some of our sites on the way there:

The beautiful greenery that IS Oregon!

Tugboats... the boys LOVED seeing those! They were all over on the Columbia River.

We saw The Dalles dam

And the top of Mt. Hood. I can't believe it is still almost completely snow covered in late June!!

The last thing we saw before our last 30 min trip down to Salem was a stop at Multnomah Falls. Breathtaking!

We didn't hike up to the bridge because it was a bit of a hike and well I'm a chicken and terrified of heights.

They had some sort of festival or something going on cause there were tents set up all over and Smokey the Bear was there

A lady there took this family picture.. funny how we were all color coordinated too. Not planned at all!

And the obligatory sign pics

This bridge was really cool too, the Union Pacific uses it (or they used to anyways) and it had all the mileage to the major cities on it.

After this we finally hit Brian's house around 1pm just in time to chill and relax before he left for work.

I'll post more about our stay there in a new post cause there's a ton more pics!
